Sir,

We refer to previous correspondence by reason of the above captioned matter.

After a careful review of your claim and of all documentation available to us, we regret to inform you that we can not accept liability for the damage to the goods.

The reason for this is that you are claiming compensation for [delay/consequential loss]. In accordance with our conditions for carriage (see Clause 8 on LCL bill of lading), we do not accept liability for any such losses. We can only accept liability for physical damage to goods we transport, but not for any of the consequences of that, or for delay. We trust that you will understand, therefore, that we cannot meet your claim.
